WATCH: 13-Year-Old Hana Hwang Reveal Special Bond with Selena Gomez

Selena Gomez and Hana Hwang have shared a special bond since Ryan Seacrest made the introduction last December. Selena Gomez revealed to fans and news the special bond she has with Hana Hwang started with Who Says. Hana, a 13-year-old progeria patient, was introduced to Gomez on the suggestion of her tutor Sara Kim. Moments ago, Selena detailed the impact that introduction has had on her own life.
The Selena Gomez, Hana Hwang bond is unlike anything recently detailed by news. Hana asked for just one lifetime dream in December to see Selena. Hana spends her days reading. She also, however, keeps Who Says on her iPod shuffle in regular rotation.
Selena told news what Hana has meant to her life since that December meeting. “This is my #iwontgiveup photo” said Selena. She linked to the above Instagram image. Selena additionally told news and fans “Hana is so beautiful and one of the most incredible people I’ve met. Love you.” On Instagram Selena also added the hashtag #iwontgiveup and said of Hana “Love you sweetheart”.
The Instagram image shows Hana holding a friendship bracelet up in the air. Then, in two lower pictures, Selena poses wearing what appears to be the same friendship bracelet. Today’s message about Hana was one of only three current tweets by Selena.

That same commitment was detailed extensively by Seacrest in December. “I want to tell you something this is incredible … that has to do with Selena Gomez.” Ryan added “… for KISSMAS Giving, we had Sara nominate someone she knows. She nominated … Hana for KISSMAS Giving.” The Sara that Ryan is referring to is Hana’s tutor,  Sara Kim.
Ryan Seacrest told news what Sara detailed to him. “We learned that Hana has a very rare aging disorder. Hana is one of only ten children in the U.S. that has progeria, a fatally rare genetic disease that dramatically speeds up aging in children.” Ryan added to news “children with progeria age eight to ten times faster than normal children. Their average life expectancy is thirteen years old. And the absolute worse part of the disease is that there is no cure.”
Then Ryan told listeners and news “Hana just turned thirteen years old this September 8, and every day has been a race against time.”
Ryan told listeners that the radio station has helped out Hana. But as the station and Hana’s family began talking, “we learned that Hana is a huge Selena Gomez fan.”
Sara told Seacrest listeners that Selena Gomez’s song “Who Says” is the only song she listens to during difficult times, including treatment. Hana finds inspiration in the lyrics, Sara said, singing that song to herself all the time. “It motivates her and to hang in there”.
Then Ryan Seacrest told listeners that Selena Gomez is unlike any celebrity out there today. “Selena is one of the most generous people I have met in my life. She was recording her album here in town.” Selena was recording here in Los Angeles when Ryan reached on the phone. Selena was suppose to finish her recording session and fly out of Los Angeles for a concert.
Seacrest continued, “I told Selena this story. She stopped recording her song in the studio. She stopped to visit Hana in the hospital.” From there, the bond was created. Below is a video from Hana retweeted by her hospital again today. The YouTube shows Hana holding the bracelet depicted above.
