Selena Gomez says she was not Popular at the School

Selena Gomez has admitted that she was not the "popular kid at school."

Selena Gomez was less than popular, as she has revealed in a new interview to dailymail. The 19-year-old star said she never had very many friends during her student days.
She said: 'I was never the popular kid at school. I had two friends, but I just sat at the back of the room and got on with my work. 'School is such an awkward time in your life. I was never confident in school.' And Selena credits the fact that her cousin was the captain of the cheerleading team at school as the reason that she wasn't bullied. She added: 'Nobody picked on me because my cousin was one of the popular gang.

Since leaving school Selena has made a huge success for herself both as a singer and actress on Wizards of Waverly Place, Selena also said that while she might be dating one of the world's biggest heartthrobs now, she was never particularly lucky in love at school.

She said: 'I never went out with guys at school. I had a crush on a guy, but I never told him about it. I did the thing that a lot of girls do: I avoided him! 'You need that self confidence if you want to chat to the guy you like. If you’re confident with yourself, and you’re okay with that, then you should go for it.'
Former Wizards of Waverly Place star Selena also took the opportunity in the interview to talk about how she deals with negative criticism. She said: 'There’s a lot of rejection in this industry and it’s tough. There are also a lot of obstacles that you have to go through and it can be really exhausting. But if you love it, then that’s all that matters. 'You’ve got to go for it. I still have people trying to bring me down, but I’m happy because I love what I do. Ignore the cruel jibes and stick with the nice people.'
Selena added: 'I’m lucky because I have a lot of support from my family and friends. I have so many amazing things in my life. 'I have a healthy, loving family and I have amazing fans. That’s all that matters to me. I try my best to not dwell on the bad stuff. Focus on the positive.'

Wizards Of Waverly Place’ Movie Sequel Is Written & Ready To Be Filmed

There have been rumors that Disney Channel might make another movie based on its hit series — and according to HollywoodLife.com the next film is SO close to being made!
If Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie left you wanting more, they've got some news that will make you very happy. HollywoodLife.com spoke with Maria Canals-Barrera, who played Selena Gomez‘s mom on the hit show, at the NYC premiere of Thin Ice hosted by The Cinema Society & Grey Goose on Feb. 6. Maria told us that although the incredibly successful show came to an end after just four seasons this past January, there could be more coming your way!

“I would love for there to be another film, and I know there’s a script that is ready to go,” Maria told us exclusively. “But I think it depends on the availability and desire of some of the other cast members. I, by the way, have the availability and the desire! If I don’t [have the time]… I’ll make it happen.”

This is amazing news, we would love to see Selena, Maria, Jake T. Austin and David Henrie join forces again. We just hope Selena isn’t too busy touring with her band to break away and do some filming!

Would you like there to be a Wizards of Waverly Place sequel?

Selena Gomez: How I Spent My First "Wizards" Paycheck

"Wizards of Waverly Place" -- the show that made Selena a household name -- set to air its final episode on Jan. 6th, the 19-year-old singer and actress opened up to "Access Hollywood" along with her cast mates David Henrie and Jake T. Austin, about how life has changed since starting the hit show.

Despite commanding $100,000 per concert according to her 2010 tour rider, the star says she has yet to make any really big purchases. When asked what was the first thing she splurged on was, she told "Access Hollywood": "Shoes .... I didn't really buy anything. She said that she’s never been a big spender, admitting that her only splurge was a modest $34,000 black Hybrid Ford Escape she got for her 16th birthday.but seemed unsure if that qualified as a big splurge.  For one of the world's most famous teenagers, a $34,000 car seems pretty sensible.

Even more surprising, Gomez admitted that her first paycheck from 'Wizards' went to helping out her family. "I think [my first paycheck] went into living [in Los Angeles] because we had to move from Texas, so I think we just had to pay for it," she said.

Her castmate 17-year-old Jake T. Austin, who plays her younger brother, also said his first paycheck from Disney went to helping out with the rent and to "[helping] my family out a bit, it just goes into living and typical everyday expenses."
She's actually known for being pretty low key and has been spotted on the red carpet wearing a $23 dress from teen clothier Forever 21 and has even been spotted stocking up on trendy items at the budget-friendly store.
